Met Éireann has announced that its new weather radar system at Shannon Airport is now operational. This system will provide more accurate rainfall information to weather forecasters.
The radar data will be used to update the rainfall radar maps on met.ie and the Met Éireann app, making them more precise and reliable for users.
This new weather radar is just the beginning of Met Éireann’s larger strategic plan to upgrade and expand the national weather radar network. Over the next decade, the number of radars will triple from two to six, covering crucial areas throughout the country for improved coverage and forecasting accuracy.
