Ryanair has announced its Shannon winter 23/24 schedule with a total of 18 routes, including two routes to Faro and Liverpool that have been extended from the summer season, and increased frequencies on six routes to Alicante, Krakow, Lanzarote, Malaga, Tenerife, and Wroclaw.
The airline will base one new 737-Max aircraft at Shannon Airport, bringing its total Shannon-based fleet to three aircraft.
Ryanair’s route to Newcastle upon Tyne ends on November 5 2023.
Ryanair says that its so-called “gamechanger” aircraft are sought after due to their environmental advantages, including a 16pc reduction in CO2 emissions, a 40pc reduction in noise emissions, and a 4pc increase in passenger capacity.
The Shannon winter 23/24 schedule is expected to contribute to 1.4m passengers per year, giving Ryanair adding to the airline’s 35-year history at Shannon Airport, where they have carried over 18m passengers to date. This gives Ryanair 93pc share of Shannon’s passenger numbers. Ryanair operates 28 of the 37 routes at the airport.
To celebrate the new schedule and routes, Ryanair has launched a limited-time seat sale with fares starting from €29.99, available exclusively on their website.
Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group said Ryanair’s investment in Shannon Airport and the region, including a state-of-the-art maintenance facility and the creation of high-skill local jobs, demonstrates their long-term commitment to the mid-west region of Ireland and increasing the economic impact and increased connectivity for business and leisure travellers during the winter months.
She said the investment represents a $300m investment and supports over 1,000 local jobs, including 30 new high-paid pilot and cabin crew positions.
