Cunard announced the order of their fourth ship in 2018,, which will be the 249th ship in their history. The new vessel will be based on Holland America Line’s Pinnacle-class ship, the MS Koningsdam, and have a gross tonnage of 113,000, accommodating up to 3,000 passengers.

In June 2019, Cunard revealed the design team for the ship’s public spaces. The process began with steel cutting at Fincantieri’s Castellammare di Stabia shipyard on October 11, 2019. The forward stub was then transferred to Marghera in August 2022 to complete the construction.

In February 2022, it was announced that the ship would be named Queen Anne.
