College Green added to Dublin’s 13 winter lights displays & projection locations

Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights this year including new locations Bank of Ireland College Green and the Central Plaza.

The event was officially switched on yesterday, transforming locations all over the city centre with projections and lighting displays created by talented artists from Ireland and around the world.

The event aims to reduce its carbon footprint by using low-power laser and LED technology, as well as alternative energy sources like hydrotreated vegetable oil and localised battery storage. The locations: 

  • Bank of Ireland College Green (lighting and projection installation with graphics)
  • Barnardo Square/City Hall (projection, lighting, design, and movement)
  • Central Plaza (full high-definition digital projection)
  • Custom House (featuring digital projection by renowned artists)
  • GPO (General Post Office)
  • Ha’penny Bridge (upgraded LED lighting that remains after the festival)
  • Mansion House (Starry Nights, Guided by Starlight display with accessible Santa’s sleigh and a Starry Sensory Space)
  • Merrion Square Park (playfulness, interactivity, lighting, projection, and stories, with relaxed viewing times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings for a more relaxed environment)
  • Millennium Bridge (colorful Rainbow arches)
  • O’Connell Street (with LED neon shapes and iconic statue highlights)
  • Samuel Beckett Bridge (where an original harp music piece comes to life on the strings)
  • The Spire (An Túr Solas – Monument of Light)
  • Trinity College (light projections on the College Green Facade)
