Howth beats Kinsale in NY newspaper list of Ireland’s prettiest seaside towns

The Irish Star’s list of “prettiest Irish seaside towns that should be on your bucket list’,  has received mixed reactions on Facebook, with over 1,200 likes.

The list, created by the New York-based Irish Star, features select seaside towns noteworthy for their vibe, pubs, people, and scenery.

  • Howth secured the top position: “it boasts a huge range of things to do, coastal views, a cliff walk, and great places to eat”.
  • Kinsale was second, “known for the 17th-century fortresses overlooking the River Bandon, as well as colourful houses and shopfronts”.
  • Lahinch was third spot, with “great restaurants and pubs by the seaside . . . perhaps what this place is most known for is the surfing opportunities the waves here present”.
  • Dingle was fourth “huge number of attractions, including sea safari cruises as well as great bars and restaurants”.
  • Bray, described as “the Brighton of Ireland,” was placed fifth.
  • Dunmore East despite having “great bars and restaurants”, came tenth.

. “Ireland is home to many things that can be described as beautiful, and a huge number of the country’s seaside towns perfectly fit that description,” it said. “What makes a pretty Irish seaside town? It’s the vibe, the pubs, the people, and of course, the scenery. Whether you’re traveling along the rugged Wild Atlantic Way or you’re exploring Ireland’s Ancient East, there are some stunning towns and villages that dot the Irish coastline.”
