New Ross boost of €40m for development of tourist trails in 2024

New Ross will see €40m invested in the development of tourist trails in 2024, with a significant focus on enhancing tourism and leisure facilities, according to Wexford County Council’s Eamonn Hore.

The South East Greenway, a major project, is expected to cost over €20m and is slated to open in 2024, aiming to bolster local outdoor activities.

Investment includes €1.25m for an emigrant park and riverside development, €7.5m for the Norman Experience Visitor Centre, and over €750,000 for Brennan’s Lane and Shambles area redevelopment.

Additional funds are allocated to other projects, including €1.75m for the John Street Grain Store’s conversion into an enterprise hub and €4m for infrastructure improvements on O’Hanrahan Bridge.

A comprehensive network of cycle and pedestrian pathways is being developed, including a €3m Active Travel Cycle Way Loop and enhancements to riverside walks and footpaths totaling about €450,000, emphasizing sustainable transportation and access.
