Kylemore Abbey is switching to HVO Biofuel for its neo-Gothic Church and shuttle buses, reducing emissions by up to 87pc.

The use of HVO Biofuel will have an impact on the majority of visitors across the 1,000-acre estate.

The reduced emissions will contribute to biodiversity efforts, including invasive species removal and native tree planting.

Kylemore Abbey has been focusing on sustainable tourism since 2019 and won the Most Sustainable Business Award in 2021.

The end goal is to transition to electric vehicles powered by hydro and solar energy.

Local suppliers, such as Sweeney Oil, are supporting Kylemore Abbey’s sustainable initiatives.
