Abu Dhabi International Airport in the UAE has been renamed as the Zayed International Airport, in honour of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The airport unveiled a new brand identity, featuring a logo inspired by traditional elements such as a dhow boat, a date palm tree, the sun, the Qasr Al Hosn Fort, and Terminal A.
Terminal A, one of the world’s largest terminals, opened recently and has the capacity to handle up to 45m passengers per year. It has seen significant passenger traffic, with 4.48m passengers in the first 60 days of operation.
The airport has also experienced growth in air traffic movements and passenger demand in 2023, with a 44.5pc increase in demand compared to 2022 and an expansion of travel destinations served.
Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, has relocated all operations to Terminal A and launched special offers for guests departing from Abu Dhabi to select destinations.
