Talks between Aer Lingus and unions regarding pilot pay concluded at the WRC without agreement and will now move to the Labour Court.

Aer Lingus has accused IALPA of not engaging responsibly in the WRC process, prompting concerns about investment, growth, and job sustainability within the airline.

Pilot pay discussions shifted to the WRC after pilots rejected an 8.5pc pay rise in January, with talks ongoing for over a year.

IALPA requested pay proposals significantly higher than the recommendations of the independent Pilot Pay Tribunal, which had suggested a 12.25pc increase in consolidated pay and a 1.5pc unconsolidated rise.

IALPA sought a 27pc pay rise over three years, including a 20pc increase and covering the cost of a 2019 crewing agreement that sought lifestyle improvements for pilots during peak operation times.

Aer Lingus expressed readiness to accept the PPT recommendations for restoring pre-Covid pay scales and implementing recommended increases, despite limitations in addressing structural and cost base changes for business competitiveness and growth.
