James Coughlan is to become the new CEO of Travel Department, starting in March, taking over from Sara Zimmerman.
Before his new role, James served as the director of sales and business development at Abercrombie & Kent until June 2023 and engaged in consultancy projects afterward.
Sara Zimmerman will transition to a shareholder and non-executive director position following her successful nine-year term as CEO.
Under Zimmerman’s leadership, Travel Department saw growth, including expanded long-haul tours, river cruise offerings, and the introduction of TD active Holidays, specialising in soft adventure holidays in Ireland.
Coughlan is tasked with driving ambitious growth plans for Travel Department amid the rising demand for escorted tours.
Travel Department, with over 28 years of experience, offers tours to destinations like Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, as well as long-haul locations such as India, South Africa, Canada, Vietnam, and Japan.
