An Emerald Airlines/Aer Lingus regional flight to Belfast encountered what the accident report calls “a serious incident” during landing due to a partial electrical systems failure, causing some systems needed for landing to drop offline.

The incident involved an ATR 72-600 aircraft with 32 passengers and four crew on board that initially departed from Leeds Bradford Airport.

Pilots experienced startle and surprise without a specified procedure to follow during the incident on September 19, 2022.

The report states that due to multiple failures and frozen displays, the pilots had to manually disable an electric transformer unit to safely land the aircraft, prompting Aer Lingus to adopt a rule-based structure for situation management and the manufacturer, ATR, to enhance guidance for pilots and implement safety actions.
