Crew members aboard the world’s largest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas, rescued 14 people who had been stranded at sea on a tiny boat for eight days while the ship was en route to Honduras from Miami.

Passengers onboard heard an emergency call sign for a person overboard, prompting the crew to launch a small vessel to assist the stranded group, who were waving a large white flag.

Miami-based Royal Caribbean, the operator of the cruise liner, stated that the stranded craft was encountered adrift and in need of assistance, leading to the immediate rescue operation by the crew.

The rescued individuals were provided with medical attention and assistance by the crew, who worked closely with the US Coast Guard on the operation.
