Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled two upcoming cruises on the Carnival Freedom after a fire incident on board the ship, affecting the March 25 and March 30 departures from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas
The fire occurred in the port side of the exhaust funnel, with initial reports indicating a possible lightning strike as the cause, prompting the ship’s return to Port Canaveral for further assessment and repair
Following a thorough evaluation, Carnival determined that the damage was more extensive than initially thought, requiring immediate repairs to stabilize the funnel, leading to the cancellation of the upcoming cruises
Affected guests will receive a full refund and a 100 percent future cruise credit, with the Carnival Freedom expected to resume service with a four-night cruise to the Bahamas on April 4, 2024, after the necessary repairs and stabilisation.
