Bert Hernandez is to become new president of Silversea, effective immediately. Barbara Muckermann will be leaving Royal Caribbean Group after 14 years with Silversea to pursue other opportunities.
Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, praised Muckermann for her contributions in positioning Silversea as a top ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line, culminating in the inauguration of Silver Nova earlier this year.
Liberty expressed confidence in Hernandez, citing his deep industry knowledge, international experience, and past leadership in the luxury cruise sector as factors that will drive Silversea’s growth and success.
Hernandez, who has been with Royal Caribbean Group for 20 years, most recently held the position of senior vice president, international. He has experience in furthering Royal Caribbean International as a preferred vacation brand worldwide and had previously served in various leadership roles within the group, including as president of China operations and chief operating officer for Azamara. Hernandez expressed excitement at the opportunity to lead Silversea and work with the experienced leadership team to continue delivering exceptional travel experiences.
