Spain has emerged as Europe’s largest aviation market in the second quarter of 2024, representing 12.5pc of all seats from and within the region during the period.

During this quarter, there are 47.6 m departure seats from and within Spain, showing a 10pc increase from pre-pandemic levels. Domestic capacity accounts for about 32pc of the total available departure seats.

Ryanair is the largest carrier in Spain, holding a 21.9pc market share, followed by Vueling (15.5pc) and Iberia (14.1pc). Madrid Adolfo Suarez-Barajas Airport is the leading airport with 20.2pc of all capacity, followed by Barcelona El Prat Airport at 17.7pc.

Seville Airport, where Routes Europe 2025 will be hosted, is the 10th-largest airport in Spain, offering 1.4 m departure seats during Q2 2024.
