The first delegates have started to arrive at International Pow Wow (IPW) in Los Angeles, the inbound tourism event for the United States.
Twenty nine Irish delegates, of whom 16 are trade and 13 are media, will be among the 1,700 global travel buyers and press representing 70 countries and 5,700 travel professionals who will attend the event, including newcomer Martin O’Regan of Inflightflix.
It will be the 27th IPW for Travel Extra editor Eoghan Corry. The event is expected to generate more than $5.5bn in future travel to the United States.
The Los Angeles Convention Centre will serve as the main backdrop for IPW with key events being held throughout the city, including the Getty Centre, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and Universal Studios Hollywood.
Los Angeles Tourism and Tourism Economics, announces its 2023 year-end tourism performance, with 49.1m total visitors—97pc recovered to 2019, including 43.3m domestic visitors (back to 2019 levels) and 5.8m international visitors (79pc of pre pendemic), $40.4bn in total business sales (106.9pc of 2019 levels), and more than 530,000 tourism-related careers for Angelenos.
Hotel demand grew to 30.2m total room-nights sold last year with hotel occupancy rising to 71.7pc and average daily hotel rates reaching $198.
