American Airlines has placed an unspecified number of employees on leave for their involvement in an incident in January where several black passengers were removed from a flight in Phoenix over a complaint about body odour

CEO Robert Isom described the incident as unacceptable and stated that it contradicts the airline’s values and commitments to customers

Three Black passengers sued the airline, alleging racial discrimination in their removal from the flight as they were told to leave the plane due to body odor complaints by a white male flight attendant

American Airlines did not disclose the number or job titles of the employees placed on leave but has stated that they are holding those involved accountable and forming an advisory group to focus on the experience of Black customers and improve diversity training to address bias and discrimination.
