Tributes paid to Ballyhaunis travel agent & Knock airport founding board member John Dillon

The former proprietor of Dillon’s travel in Ballyhaunis, John Dillon of Ballindrehid, Ballyhaunis, passed away unexpectedly at Mayo University Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Known throughout County Mayo as a businessman, Mr. Dillon served as a former Board and Trust member at Ireland West Airport, and was involved with the Chamber of Commerce and Midwest Radio.

Mr. Dillon, survived by his wife Cait and children Sheila, Joanne, Barbara, and Tom, is being mourned by his family, friends, neighbours, and the wider community.

Mr. Dillon played a key role in the development of Ireland West Airport, having joined the Board in 1985 and serving as Airport secretary when it officially opened in 1986. He was also a respected figure in the travel industry, operating the family travel business with dedication and passion.
