Bristow Ireland Limited has received planning permission for a new building at Weston Airport for their search and rescue operations transition
The new facility includes a hangar, support workshops, offices, and accommodation for the on-call SAR Crew
Bristow Ireland partnered with Weston Airport management for the construction and maintenance of the facility.
The Department of Transport awarded a new 10-year contract to Bristow Ireland Limited in August 2023, which includes year-round, day and night Search and Rescue helicopter services.
The services will be provided through a fleet of six search and rescue (SAR) configured AW189 helicopters located in Dublin, Shannon, Sligo, and Waterford.
The collaborative efforts and engagement plans with employees are seen as crucial in ensuring a successful and organized transition to the new contract and service provision.
Bristow Ireland says they are focusing on employee outreach and engagement plans to facilitate a smooth transition to the new contract later in the year.
The company has engaged with major unions representing pilots, technical crews, and engineers to ensure a smooth transition for employees as part of the new contract in the upcoming year
