IAG Loyalty, which includes Aer Lingus, has partnered with Royal Caribbean International to offer Avios points to members of British Airways Executive Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Iberia Plus, and Vueling Club programmes.
Members can earn three Avios per £1/€1 spent when booking a balcony room or suite through Royal Caribbean’s UK, Spain, and Ireland websites, with Avios credited 28 days after the cruise is completed.
This partnership reflects a trend of loyalty programmes collaborating with cruise lines to target the leisure market, with examples such as Global Hotel Alliance’s agreement with Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
Gerard Nolan of Royal Caribbean International highlighted that Avios earned from a balcony room booking could cover a one-way flight within Europe, while David Black of IAG Loyalty expressed excitement about enhancing travel rewards for members through partnerships with popular brands like Royal Caribbean.
