American Airlines has expanded its partnership with Chile’s JetSMART, allowing customers to earn AAdvantage miles on all domestic and international flights operated by the South American airline.

AAdvantage members will soon be able to redeem miles for travel on JetSMART, enhancing the benefits of the partnership for loyal customers.

The strategic collaboration includes a minority stake American planned to take in JetSMART, as well as an extended codeshare agreement that now covers flights in Peru and Argentina, creating the largest route network in the Americas.

JetSMART customers will have the option to join the AAdvantage program when purchasing tickets, furthering the airline’s goal of enhancing connectivity and reaching a target of 100m passengers and 100 aircraft by 2028.

Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSMART, shared: “From the beginning, we have been innovators in South American aviation, offering ultra-low fares and an extensive route network, often connecting cities for the first time. By deepening our partnership with American, we are continuing to make history, furthering our mission of bringing air travel to every corner of the continent. Our customers will now be able to earn miles when they fly on the JetSMART network and connect to American’s global network. As the fastest-growing airline in South America, this alliance strengthens our position as we work toward our vision of reaching 100m passengers and 100 aircraft by 2028.”
