Belfast City Hall is introducing a new augmented reality (AR) experience, created in partnership with BT, as part of its free visitor exhibition, enhancing the exploration of the city’s stories through digital technology.

The interactive AR journey features an animated seahorse guiding visitors to uncover Belfast’s hidden river, explore a virtual library, and engage with the city’s history, present, and future through immersive 3D maps and street games.

Set to open on October 1, 2024, and running until March 2025, the exhibition aims to enhance visitor engagement through innovative technologies, showcasing the potential of 5G and extended reality.

Belfast 2024, a city-wide creative celebration, will include this AR experience, which aligns with the themes of people, place, and planet, promoting cultural celebration and tourism in the city.
