In August 2024, a total of 1,313,800 Irish residents departed from Ireland on overseas routes, up 8.8pc on August 2023, according to new CSO figures.
The figure for the year to date is up by 5pc, from 8,320,300 to 8,732.,600.
About 9.9pc of the passengers consisted of same-day visitors, which included the six counties residents and various foreign resident transfer passengers.
Foreign resident overnight visitors accounted for 33.1pc of overall departing passengers, totalling approximately 763,600 individuals.
