
Viking has taken delivery of its latest Nile River ship, the Viking Sobek, during a ceremony at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, expanding its fleet to accommodate a total of 82 guests across 41 staterooms.
The Viking Sobek will operate on the 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary, enriching Viking’s offerings in Egypt, a destination that has garnered strong interest among travelers.
Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO of Viking, praised the Sobek and its sister ships, emphasizing their elegance and the growing demand for voyages to explore Egypt’s rich historical and cultural attractions.
With the introduction of the Viking Sobek, Viking plans to expand its fleet to 10 vessels on the Nile by 2026, with four additional ships set to be launched in the next two years, including the Viking Amun and Viking Thoth in 2025.
