American Airlines and Hyatt are set to modify their loyalty programme partnership at the end of this year, ending the ability for elite members to “double dip” rewards by earning both miles and points on eligible spending starting December 31.
Beginning January 2, 2024, AAdvantage members will be able to redeem miles for World of Hyatt Free Night Awards, with options ranging from 40,000 Loyalty Points for category 1-4 awards to 125,000 Loyalty Points for category 1-7 awards.
From March 1, AAdvantage members can choose World of Hyatt awards under the Loyalty Points Rewards structure, with various levels of status and free night awards requiring up to fivem Loyalty Points.
Starting January 1, 2024, World of Hyatt members can select AAdvantage rewards, including Preferred and Main Cabin Extra seat coupons and the opportunity to redeem points for AAdvantage status benefits, enhancing travel options and redemption opportunities for both member bases.
Laurie Blair, vice president, global marketing, Hyatt, shared: “As our member base continues to grow, we are evolving this strategic airline-hotel relationship to align with what today’s travellers want – more choices, increased redemption abilities and status opportunities. World of Hyatt has been redefining loyalty by adding more choice and ease of use for experiences that are more meaningful for our members. We believe in the transformative power of travel, and the evolution of this relationship gives our members more opportunities to enhance their travel journeys with experiences that matter most to them.”
