Stena Line and Associated British Ports (ABP) are set to invest €240m in a new freight ferry terminal at the Port of Immingham, following approval of the Development Consent Order by the Westminster Government, allowing construction to commence.
The new RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) terminal will be operated by Stena Line for the next 50 years, aiming to enhance the growing unaccompanied freight market in North-East England and improve connectivity with Continental Europe.
The terminal will increase capacity for handling unaccompanied freight units, supporting larger vessels and potentially quicker sailing times, thus addressing the rising demand from exporters and importers in the region.
The project is expected to create around 700 jobs during construction and 200 permanent jobs upon completion, with a targeted operational date of 2026.
