Costa Cruises to reduce planned visits to Santorini

Costa Cruises will significantly reduce planned visits to Santorini in the 2025 itineraries for the Costa Fascinosa, with over 15 cancellations announced for the Greek island during its seven-night Eastern Mediterranean cruises.

As Greece considers measures to address overtourism, Santorini may implement a visit tax starting in 2025. Mykonos has also proposed regulating the number of cruise calls.

Instead of Santorini, the updated itinerary will include Athens as a new destination, providing a convenient transit and potential homeport for various source markets, along with Argostoli (Kefalonia) to cater to guests’ interest in exploring more of Greece.

The revised itinerary now features Mykonos, Catania (Sicily), Taranto (Apulia), Malta, Athens, and Argostoli (Kefalonia), which has been well-received in customer surveys, and Santorini will have only one scheduled visit on May 25, 2025, as part of a 14-night cruise.
