TUI River Cruises launched its first Nile river ship, TUI Al Horeya, with a blessing ceremony in Luxor, featuring the release of 100 biodegradable candles into the Nile as part of a traditional prayer for safe voyages.
Guests participated in the ceremony by making personal wishes associated with the candles, accompanied by gifts of papyrus inscribed with “TUI Al Horeya” in Arabic.
The celebration on board included live performances such as a sand artist’s storytelling, Whirling Dervishes, and a gala dinner, followed by the ship’s departure towards Luxor Temple.
Katy Berzins, head of TUI River Cruises, stated that the maiden voyage on November 4, 2025, marks a significant milestone, with 80pc of their winter Nile program already sold and ongoing new bookings.
