Whitbread plans to open its third Premier Inn hotel near Edinburgh Airport, in collaboration with Riverstone Developments, featuring 200 rooms on Eastfield Road, a ten-minute walk from the terminal.
The hotel will consist of an L-shaped building with a ground floor restaurant, social space, the brand’s Premier Plus concept, and include 100 onsite parking spaces, pending planning permission.
The property will showcase the latest style Premier Inn bedrooms, designed with modern decor elements like floor-to-ceiling curtains, double shower heads, and a “flexi table.”
The development aims for a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating, utilising electricity from renewable sources, and comes as part of Whitbread’s strategy to expand its presence in high-traffic locations, responding to increased passenger numbers at the airport.Jill Anderson, acquisitions manager for Whitbread, shared: “The investment case for expanding Premier Inn at Edinburgh Airport is compelling. Close to 14.5m passengers chose to travel from the airport in 2023, an increase of almost 30pc on the year before, and aircraft movements are increasing especially to international destinations.
“As the airport continues to succeed and grow, so are we. We have recognised an opportunity to expand our network in the catchment and bring the popular Premier Inn brand to within walking distance of the airport terminal building.
“It’s another exciting location for our guests and a further example of Whitbread’s strategy of investing in strategic locations where we see a bright future.”
