Viking celebrated the naming of its newest ocean ship, the Viking Vela, in a ceremony in Trieste, Italy, showcasing its partnership with shipbuilder Fincantieri.
Ivana Elice, the ship’s ceremonial godmother and a key figure in the design of Viking’s ocean fleet for over a decade, played an integral role in the event.
The ceremony included the traditional breaking of a Norwegian aquavit bottle against the ship’s hull and featured performances by renowned artists, highlighting Norwegian and Italian culture.
Elice’s extensive experience in naval architecture and her leadership roles at Fincantieri underscore the collaborative efforts that have contributed to the development of Viking’s elegant fleet of small ocean ships.
