
Newly released figures for 2024 show Ireland is the 19th most important inbound market for Australia, with Irish holiday visits increasing by 8.2pc in 2024, rising from 79,190 to 86,500 visitors.
Irish visits to Australia are currently 29pc higher than pre-pandemic levels.
Approximately 27,000 Irish citizens hold temporary visas in Australia, with Ireland in fourth place for one year work visas and second place for two year work visas. An amendment to the working holiday visa regulations, effective from 1 November 2018, increased the age of eligibility for Irish passport holders from age 30 to 35.
