An Bord Pleanála has approved a €40m hotel project on the outskirts of Athlone, comprising 192 bedrooms.
The development was initially green-lit by Westmeath County Council in November and is subject to 17 conditions.
Longford developer Mark Cunningham’s Avenir Homes DAC is leading the project, which includes a three-storey car park and a range of luxury amenities.
This hotel is projected to be one of the tallest buildings in the midlands, reaching up to ten storeys.
Access will be provided through existing entrances from Brawney Road and the N6.
