
The EU has delayed the launch of the ETIAS system until late 2026, and says it will release;ease further updates prior to its implementation.
The ETIAS visa waiver for travellers from visa-exempt countries aiming to enter the Schengen Area for short-term stays will not be required for visits to Ireland or by irish passport holders for travel to the EU, but affect tourists from the USA and other markets worldwide.
The Entry/Exit System is set to launch in October 2025, following its own series of postponements.
The EES had been due to launch in November 2024 before being postponed due to systems not being ready in Germany, France and the Netherlands.
England has allocated £10.5m to update infrastructure at key travel locations, including the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel.
