Gannon Travel in Castlerea is to close after serving customers for 30 years.The couple plans to retire in December 2025, allowing existing clients time to manage their bookings and vouchers.
Both Francis and Miriam appreciate the support from loyal customers throughout the years and expressed gratitude for the lasting relationships formed over three decades.
They will continue take bookings for travel up to October 31, 2025. All outstanding travel vouchers will be honoured or receive a refund on the value of the voucher. Francis purchased the business in 1994 from the Delaney Family who operated it since the early 1900’s.
Francis Gannon shared: “over the last 30 years, we have had the pleasure in meeting wonderful people who come back year after year to support our business by booking their trips with us. We do not have an online website. We saw the businesss change from hand written airline tickets changing to E-Tickets to airline tickets being on a smart phone. We would like to take this opportunity in thanking all our customers and suppliers who have supported us down through the years. Since Covid – our business sales have increased. I would put this down to the public realising how much the travel agent gives with both knowledge and support.”
