Meath County Council has approved a major expansion at Johnstown Estate Hotel, adding 90 new guest bedrooms and enhancing leisure and hospitality facilities.
The development includes a three-storey extension at the rear of the hotel, featuring a new restaurant and upgraded kitchen.
Accessibility improvements will include removing one guest room to create a single-storey link and adding four new accessible parking spaces.
Extensive internal alterations will separate the restaurant from the spa and gym, improving guest experience and operational flow.
The planners say the project reflects a careful balance between modern renovations and heritage protections, given the site’s status as a Protected Structure.
