Plans have been approved to add 35 rooms to Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel in Shannon, with six rooms on the ground floor and 29 on the second floor.

Approval was granted for alterations to the existing hotel layout, additional parking spaces, and the installation of a new lift.

Concerns were raised by Woodhaven Developments Ltd regarding pedestrian connectivity and the lack of a mobility study with the proposal.

The applicant assured that the development respects privacy by ensuring first-floor windows do not directly face residential houses and will not cast shadows beyond site boundaries.

The Planning Authority approved the development with seven conditions, including disposal of surface water according to submitted drainage proposals.
