The Eu has revealed a new date for its Entry/Exit System (EES) which will now commence phased implementation on 12 October, 2025. The system aims to streamline travel at EU borders by replacing manual passport stamping with biometric processes to include fingerprint scans and facial image capture.

All EU borders will support the EES by 10 April, 2026, following numerous delays from an initial 2023 launch. The anticipated European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will roll out between October and December 2026.

Non-EU passport holders will need to pay a revised fee of €20 for ETIAS authorisation, valid for three years.
