Cork Airport has celebrated its two millionth passenger in 2025 ahead of the August Bank Holiday weekend, marking a peak in its 64-year history at Farmer’s Cross.
The milestone passenger was Benvon Deasy from Rochestown, who was travelling to Cape Town, South Africa via London Heathrow and received a special gift from airport management.
Cork Airport anticipates 74,000 passengers this August Bank Holiday weekend, with a 14pc increase in traffic compared to the same period last year.
The airport’s €200m Capital Development programme aims to support future growth to over 5m passengers per annum, catering to regional demand from counties such as Laois, Kilkenny, Carlow and Wexford.
Separately, a Swiss businessman’s DC-3, dating back to World War II, made a historic visit to the airport in retro Swissair livery.
Benvon Deasy shared, “I was thrilled to be the milestone passenger and excited for our trip to Cape Town.”
Airport management shared, “Cork Airport is experiencing unprecedented growth, with this August shaping up to be our busiest ever. With a 14pc increase in passenger traffic, we are looking forward to a bustling August Bank Holiday weekend. This €200m investment will ensure we can accommodate over 5m passengers in the coming years.”
