Thousands of passengers are impacted as KLM cancels 104 flights today. Three Dublin rotations are among the flights affected by the strike by ground crew at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

  • Amsterdam KL1134@05.55; KL1136@08.55, KL1144@20.45
  • Inbound LK1137, KL1139, KL1143
  • Cork Amsterdam KL1126@06.00 also cancelled

The cancellations represent about 15pc of planned departures from the airport. Affected passengers may be entitled to compensation of up to €600 under EU Regulation 261/2004.

This latest walkout follows a pattern of escalating tensions between KLM and its ground staff, who are protesting what they describe as inadequate pay rises and unfair treatment compared to pilots and management.

While the airline reached agreements earlier this month with three unions, FNV and CNV rejected the proposals, citing declining purchasing power for workers amid rising living costs. A similar two-hour strike on 10 September already led to the cancellation of more than 100 flights, stranding thousands and highlighting the fragility of operations at one of Europe’s busiest airports

Transport Minister Mark Harbers shared, “The damage to the Netherlands’ reputation as a reliable aviation gateway is concerning.”

KLM shared in a written statement, “We are committed to rebooking passengers on the next available flights where possible.”
