
Further details have been announced of Kilkenny Animated Festival which runs from 3 to 5 October 2025, hosted by Cartoon Saloon, Lighthouse Studios and Schweppe Curtis Nunn Events, celebrating animation creativity in medieval Kilkenny.
The main programme on 4 and 5 October at Ormonde Hotel features talks by Maggie Kang and Chris Applehans on Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, Lisa Hanawalt on Tuca & Bertie and Long Story Short.
Brenda Chapman, Academy Award winner for Brave, reflects on her career; Magic Light Pictures founders Michael Rose and Martin Pope discuss adaptations like The Gruffalo and The Snail and the Whale.
Kevin Lima presents Disney documentary Not Just a Goof on A Goofy Movie’s 30th anniversary; panels cover women directors, funding and independent practices with Delphine Coudray, Colm Dowling, Giovanna Ferrari, Alan Holly, Clíodhna Lyons and Paddy Lynch.
Offstage events include workshops, screenings, sketching tours of Wolfwalkers-inspired streets and river Nore biodiversity trail; Pathways to Animation for students; Art Market at Kyteler’s Inn.
