An Coimisiún Pleanála has granted permission for Dublin’s MetroLink, an 18.8km railway line from Charlemont to Swords Estuary, mostly underground.
First proposed in 2000, the project faced delays during the financial crisis. Transport Infrastructure Ireland applied for the Railway Order in November 2022.
Conditions include heritage protection and mitigation for construction disruptions, such as alternative facilities for Fingallians GAA and parking solutions in Glasnevin. Cabinet approval is still required before construction begins.
