The National Novena to Our Lady of Knock will run from 13 August to 21 August 2026 at Knock Shrine in County Mayo to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary fo the shrine. This year’s overall theme, “Sheltered in God’s Love,” celebrates the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Knock Basilica. The opening day on 13 August features a comprehensive schedule of prayer services, workshops and ceremonies.
The opening day begins with a daily guided tour at 11:00 AM from the Information Centre, including the Knock Museum. A themed guided prayer session takes place in the Prayer Centre at 11:15 AM, followed by a Novena workshop at 12:45 PM. The Anointing of the Sick occurs at 2:30 PM, with the Afternoon Novena Ceremony in the Basilica at 3:00 PM featuring guest speaker and broadcaster Mary Kennedy on the topic “Faith in Full View.” An Evening Novena Ceremony repeats at 8:00 PM with the same speaker and topic.
A Traditional Candlelight Procession through the Knock Shrine grounds follows the 8:00 PM Mass, weather permitting. The Basilica opening anniversary provides a focal point for the nine-day devotional programme. Additional days feature different guest speakers and topics throughout the Novena period.
