Wyatt Hotel in Westport has launched a planning application seeking a three-storey 5,333 square metre extension with 72 bedrooms, 88 basement parking spaces, and 20 public spaces.
Mayo County Council recently sold 0.67 acres behind Westport Leisure Centre to Wyatt Hotel for €675,000 with €280,000 ring-fenced for playground improvements.
The development includes staff accommodation, ESB substation, relocated delivery area, and new footpath linking Church Street to Leisure Centre car park.
The project would create 35 jobs and includes solar panels, heat pumps, and energy efficiency upgrades on town centre zoned land.
The application closes for submissions with a council decision due by 9 December and possible appeal to An Bord Pleanála.
