The Connemara Pony Heritage Centre has opened at Connemara National Park, launched by John Connolly.

The centre celebrates the Connemara Pony’s heritage, with exhibits tracing its history since the park’s 1980 opening. Free entry is available seven days a week, featuring audio-visual displays and pony meet-and-greets in summer.

Cathy Snow will educate visitors on the breed’s importance, linked to ponies gifted by Erskine Childers in 1974. The centre aims to attract locals and tourists along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Eugene Finnerty shared “The Connemara Pony Heritage Centre is a seamless collaboration between the staff at Connemara National Park.”

John Connolly shared “The ponies have been part of the Park since it opened in 1980.”
