
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland has partnered with Slieve Russell Hotel for the launch of Ireland’s first dementia-inclusive hotel
Minister Kieran O’Donnell TD opened Ireland’s first dementia-inclusive hotel. Staff received specialist training with dementia champions leading service. Bedrooms featured clear signage, simplified layouts and non-reflective surfaces. The hotel provided quiet zones and a tranquil garden with all-weather pathways.
Minister Kieran O’Donnell shared “I am pleased to officially launch Ireland’s first dementia-inclusive hotel, a partnership between The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the Slieve Russell Hotel here in Cavan. The Government remains deeply committed to supporting people to live well with dementia, and we wholeheartedly commend efforts like this initiative that enable everyone to enjoy travel and leisure with dignity and confidence.”
