New aviation think-tank AERION aims to bring four cargo entities together

  • AERION has been established as the commercial cargo arm of the group
  • The group unites ECS Group, Global GSA Group, TCE, CargoTech and specialised entities
  • AERION offers airlines a single commercial gateway
  • The group manages complete cargo activities for more than ten airlines
  • AERION turns multiple capabilities into one clear proposition

AERION has been established as a centralised commercial platform and strategic “think tank” for the air cargo industry. Launched as a collaborative initiative by the ECS Group, Global GSA Group, and CargoTech, it is designed to move beyond traditional General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) representation. Instead, AERION offers airlines a hyper-integrated, single-relationship partnership to manage and optimize total cargo operations, revenue, digital procurement, and compliance without needing heavy internal infrastructure

The group says it offers airlines a single commercial gateway built around making cargo work harder. Adrien Thominet, Chairman of the holding company behind the group and Founder of AERION, sees the brand as the expression of a strategy developed over several years.

ECS Group provides the historical foundation with general sales and service agency expertise connecting airline capacity with freight forwarder demand. Global GSA Group brings another substantial layer of airline representation, combining local commercial relationships with centrally coordinated support. For airlines seeking broader outsourcing, TCE plays a central role in the group’s Total Cargo Management capabilities. Technology supplies another essential connection. Following investment in digital capabilities since 2018, CargoTech brings together complementary businesses tackling different commercial tasks including CargoAI, Wiremind Cargo, Rotate and Aerios.

HealthC’Air addresses pharmaceutical and temperature-sensitive cargo, while Mail and More brings dedicated postal expertise to mail and e-commerce. Squair tackles back-office services including air waybill verification, data capture, sales report checks and invoicing. Marketing and promotion complete the picture, helping airline partners make their capabilities visible and commercially persuasive.

Aerion has not connection with Aerion Supersonic (officially Aerion Corporation), the American aircraft manufacturer that aimed to pioneer the return of commercial supersonic flight before abruptly shutting down in May 2021. Founded in 2003 by billionaire Robert Bass, the Reno, Nevada-based firm spent nearly two decades designing high-speed, environmentally sustainable aircraft.

Adrien Thominet shared “Air cargo is evolving, and airlines need partners who can support every part of their growth. Airlines need more than cargo sales. They need partners who understand how commercial decisions, operational discipline and digital intelligence work together to produce sustainable returns.”
