Air India Group say they have deployed SITA OptiFlight and SITA eWAS to reduce carbon emissions by 35,000 tons and save 11,100 tons of fuel annually.

The technology is active on Air India’s Airbus A320 and Air India Express’ Boeing 737 fleets, with widebody deployment planned. SITA OptiClimb optimises flight climb phases using historical data and weather forecasts, while eWAS provides real-time weather updates.

The deployment supports Air India’s Vihaan.AI transformation, including a 570-aircraft order and a new training academy. The tools enhance operational efficiency and align with regulatory and environmental pressures in aviation.

Sumesh Patel shared: “Deployment of SITA OptiFlight climb module and SITA eWAS by Air India and Air India Express is a strong example of how smart digital technologies can cut emissions, save fuel, and unlock real operational value across every flight.”
