Air India will be run by an interim committee appointed by parent company Tata Sons until a new CEO is found to replace Campbell Wilson, who leaves in September 2026. The committee comprises Tata chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, former Air India director Pradeep Singh Kharola, and other senior executives. Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal and former Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan are reported as top contenders for the role.
The management reshuffle comes as Air India continues to battle financial and operational headwinds which have led to flight reductions. The carrier has slashed flights and may delay expansion plans in an effort to cut costs. Wilson’s departure was announced earlier in 2026.
Air India is part of the Tata Group, which acquired the airline in 2022. The search for a permanent CEO is ongoing.
