
The Trump administration has calculated that Ireland has a $1,985m balance of trade surplus with the USA in travel and tourism.
The statistics were released by the US Department of Commerce in their updated country profiles. The data snapshots combines official figures with a survey of 759 Irish visitors randomly selected.
The average spend of an Irish person travelling to the USA is now $3,769. Ireland’s market share of US inbound traffic is 1.9pc by passenger numbers and 4pc by market spend, with $1,863m spend on irish travel to the USA, including air fares. However US visitors to Ireland spent $3,848M in the other direction.
