Barceló Hotel Group has opened its second hotel in Cairo, the Occidental Cairo Grand Museum, on 1 September 2026, marking a major milestone in the brand’s North African expansion strategy. The four-star urban hotel offers 207 contemporary rooms and suites situated directly opposite the Grand Egyptian Museum and in close proximity to the Giza Pyramids. The property targets cultural, urban and corporate travellers, with amenities including a wellness centre, gym, full-service spa and events space capable of hosting up to 60 people.

The hotel features an international restaurant and three bars, including a standout rooftop terrace offering panoramic views over the monumental complex at Giza. The property has been integrated into the Barceló ReGen sustainability program, with local operations supporting nearly 1,900 jobs while sourcing 70pc of supplies from local businesses. The opening complements Barceló’s established presence in the city, providing travellers with two distinct options in the historic Giza region.

The Occidental Cairo Grand Museum differs from the Barceló Cairo Pyramids, which features a large heated outdoor pool and 12th-floor panoramic restaurant. The new property’s location directly opposite the Grand Egyptian Museum positions it to capture demand from visitors to Egypt’s premier cultural attraction, which has become a significant draw for international tourists. Barceló’s ongoing international growth continues with the expansion in the Egyptian market.
